An e-ink screen cannot be repaired
Unlike a phone or a tablet, there is no practical repair for a cracked e-ink panel. The screen is the device, so a crack means a replacement rather than a fix, and Amazon will not treat accidental damage as a warranty matter.

A Kindle is bought to be taken places books are awkward, which means it goes in the sea bag, the bath and the seat pocket in front of you. Some models are water rated and none of that rating survives the sand.
