What our MacBook insurance covers

  • Liquid spills reaching the logic board
  • Cracked and delaminated screens
  • Accidental damage in bags and in transit
  • Theft, replaced with the same configuration
  • Cover after AppleCare has expired

Everything is soldered now

On every Apple silicon MacBook the memory and the storage are part of the chip package or soldered to the board, which means a spill that reaches the logic board takes the lot. There is no swapping a stick of RAM or an SSD, and Apple quotes the repair accordingly.

AppleCare closes, we do not

AppleCare has to be bought while the machine is new and it expires, whereas our cover can begin at any point in a MacBook’s life. Given that these machines stay useful for six or seven years, most of their working life is spent outside any manufacturer protection.

Why Dynamo

Cover that works the way you do

Liquid spills

A spill reaching the board on an Apple silicon MacBook takes the memory and storage with it, because both are soldered down rather than fitted.

Screen damage

MacBook displays are sealed assemblies, so a crack or a delamination is a replacement rather than a repair, and it is among the costliest parts on the machine.

Damage in a bag

Most MacBook claims begin in transit rather than at a desk, whether that is a leaking bottle or something heavy landing on the lid.

Theft

MacBooks are among the most stolen laptops there are, and a stolen machine is replaced with the same screen size, chip, memory and storage.

Pro and Air

Every MacBook Pro and Air is covered, from the old Intel machines through M1 and M2 to the current M5 configurations.

No age limit

A MacBook from 2019 goes on cover on the same terms as one bought this week, which matters given how long these machines stay in service.

Every MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, from the Intel machines through the M1, M2 and M4 generations to the current M5 models, at all memory and storage configurations.

Yes, and it is the claim we handle most often, which matters because Apple does not treat a spill as a warranty repair at any age.

Yes, and that is when most people come to us, since AppleCare cannot be bought once the initial window has closed.

Yes, cover follows the machine rather than an address, including abroad.

The policy covers the hardware rather than the data, so keeping a current backup is still worth doing.

We replace it with the same model and configuration, and the replacement is fully warranted.
