What our Xperia insurance covers
- Cracked screens, including the tall 21 by 9 panels
- Cracked rear glass
- Liquid damage beyond the rated protection
- Accidental damage and theft
- Camera module damage on the Xperia 1 series
A tall phone falls differently
Sony has stuck with a 21 by 9 aspect ratio while everyone else settled on shorter screens, which makes the Xperia 1 unusually long and gives it more leverage when it tips out of a hand. Flat glass helps, but there is simply more phone to hit the ground.
The IP rating is not a warranty
Xperia handsets are among the better water resistant phones on the market, and Sony still states that liquid damage falls outside the warranty. Resistance is tested on new devices in fresh water, and it is not something you can rely on after a few years of pocket wear.
Why Dynamo
Cover that works the way you do
Long screens, hard landings
The 21 by 9 display on an Xperia 1 makes for a tall phone with more leverage in a fall, and the panel is bonded like any other so a crack means the full assembly.
Water resistance has limits
Sony rates its phones well and still excludes liquid damage from the warranty, which leaves cover like this as the only funded route to a repair.
Camera hardware
The Xperia 1 line carries serious camera hardware including a genuine periscope zoom, and damage to that module is not a cheap fix.
Theft
A stolen Xperia is replaced with the same model, memory and storage rather than an approximation.
Older Z and XZ handsets
Sony phones stay in service a long time with a loyal following, and there is no age limit stopping an older Z or XZ going on cover.
The full range
Xperia 1, 5 and 10 across every generation, plus the older XZ, XA and Z series handsets.

Sony excludes liquid damage from the warranty regardless of the IP rating, and resistance weakens as the phone ages, so the rating and a claim are different things entirely.
